The Pony Club badge scheme is a fun way to gain a greater knowledge of horsemanship and the countryside. Please ask staff for the free Pony Club Leaflet, which tells you more about the 20 badges in the series and what your children will learn by doing each one.

For the older children or ones that have already got all the achievement badges there are the "Centre Membership Progressive Awards". These are only available to Pony Club Centre Members but other tests are available for none members. The required standard can be reached in either Riding and Road Sense or Horse mastership. So they are ideal for children that want to learn about horses but are not as confident at riding.

There are six awards at the moment starting with Bronze 3, which involves handling horses and ponies and a small amount of riding. Bronze 2 involves learning how to care for horses and ponies and being able to ride independently. Bronze 1 involves more riding and the candidate has to ride controlled transitions and ride independently from the rest of the ride.

The Silver award is the next one and the silver 3 involves achieving confidence in handling and riding ponies and to improve and enjoy learning about ponies. Silver 2 starts to develop the riding side and children have to learn some of the breeds and markings on horses. They also have to know how to look after field horses and the different types of fencing. Silver 1 works towards developing a balanced seat independent of the reins and to understand elementary aids and be able to apply them.

On the horsemanship side candidates have to know how to see if a saddle and bridle fits correctly and recognize basic feedstuffs.

The Gold 3, 2, 1 will be available shortly so please ask your instructor for more details and what to work on but you do have to have passed the other grades first.

During the summer holidays on the Mondays that are stated we hope to do a different achievement badge on each day depending on time and the age of the children. The Progressive Awards will take longer to learn depending on if doing just the Horse mastership or both the Horse mastership and the riding and road sense. But a different part will be worked on each week and at the end of the holidays each child should have completed and gained the Bronze 3 award. The further awards can then be worked on during the child's next lesson. Those who achieve the standard will be presented with the appropriate official certificate on the day.

Packed lunches are needed for each day and a waterproof coat is recommended just in case!

Book in for 5 activity days and pay for them on the first day and receive the 6th day free!

Although there seems to be a lot of days planned they do get quickly booked up so we suggest that people book in early to avoid disappointment.

Usual lesson programme available - every day
